Work Incentives Planning & Assistance

Services Provided: Helping brain injury survivors who receive SSDI and/or SSI plan for how to return to work. The service provides information on how working can impact one’s Social Security benefits.

Cost/Funding: Free.

Comments: A project of Disability Rights Oregon. Program is also known as Plan for Work. Previously known as the Passage to Independence Project. WIPA serves 20-25 brain injury survivors annually.

Oregon Health Plan

Services Provided: Provides health care coverage to low-income Oregonians 19 and older. OHP includes medical care, limited emergency dental services, mental health care, and out-patient substance abuse treatment.

Cost/Funding: Cost varies.

Comments: In most cases, adults must have been without medical insurance for 6 months to qualify. Once a person is enrolled, he/she will receive coverage for one year. To apply, individual must add name to the reservation list to become a potential applicant.

Providence Medication Assitance Program

Services Provided: The program helps clients obtain medications. The program staff works with the patient, the physician, and the companies that provide prescription medications to assist with meeting the medication needs.

Cost/Funding: Free

Comments: Patient may not have prescription drug coverage through insurance. Eligibility requirements differ depending on the prescription drug manufacturer. May need to provide verification of income information.

Services Provided: Helps clients obtain medications. The program staff works with the patient, physician and prescription medication manufacturer to provide medication to the client.

Comments: Must be a patient of OHSU. Physician referral preferred. Eligibility requirements vary depending on prescription medication manufacturer.

Partnership for Prescription Assistance

Services Provided: A program that connects qualified, low-income people with free or discount prescription drugs, direct from the pharmaceutical manufacturer, private or state program.

Cost/Funding: Free

Comments: Designed to help low-income, uninsured Oregonians. However, people with insurance may still qualify. Sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical Company.
