Below is suggested language for drafting your bequest with your chosen estate lawyer.
Example Bequest Language
For an unrestricted gift that enables Brain Injury Connections – Northwest (BIC-NW) to determine how to utilize the funds based on their most pressing needs, please use the following language in your will and/or trust:
Unrestricted Bequest Example:
“I give to Brain Injury Connections – Northwest (BIC-NW), a nonprofit corporation currently located at 1411 SW Morrison St, Suite 220, Portland, OR 97205, or its successor thereto, _________ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose.”
For a designated gift that specifies how Brain Injury Connections – Northwest (BIC-NW) will utilize the funds for support, please use the following language in your will and/or trust:
Designated Bequest Example:
“I give to Brain Injury Connections – Northwest, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 1411 SW Morrison St, Suite 220, Portland, OR 97205, or its successor thereto, _________ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property]. This gift should be used for (state purpose) if and so long as Brain Injury Connections – Northwest determines the need exists. If Brain Injury Connections – Northwest shall determine at the outset or at a later time that the need does not exist, or no longer exists or for some reason it is not possible (or prudent) to administer my gift as originally intended, then Brain Injury Connections – Northwest may, in its sole and uncontrolled discretion, direct the use of my bequest for a purpose related as closely as possible to that stated above.”
