Services Provided: Disability Rights Oregon (DRO) offers individuals with disabilities free legal assistance and other advocacy services directly related to their disabilities. DRO provides information, tools and referrals that empower individuals to advocate on their own behalf. In addition, DRO will investigate and, when appropriate, address reports of abuse and/or neglect.

Cost/Funding: Free

Comments: All of the services are confidential. Priority is given to cases in which the individual whose rights are being violated could not otherwise afford legal assistance.

Traumatic Brain Injury Project at Disability Rights Oregon

Services Provided: Helps people with brain injuries who are having trouble getting health benefits, services and support. They also investigate reports of abuse and neglect. In addition, they offer trainings on the rights of people.

Cost/Funding: Free

Comments: Trainings may be available for groups upon request to people with TBI, their family members, service providers, and employers. Please contact DRO to request a training.

Work Incentives Planning & Assistance

Services Provided: Helping brain injury survivors who receive SSDI and/or SSI plan for how to return to work. The service provides information on how working can impact one’s Social Security benefits.

Cost/Funding: Free

Comments: A project of Disability Rights Oregon. Program is also known as Plan for Work. Previously known as the Passage to Independence Project. WIPA serves 20-25 brain injury survivors annually.
